And here are even more good reasons to opt for BFH
What you'll be doing here
  • Develop and optimize modular microfluidic chips for diagnostic sensing
  • Design and test enrichment and immobilization microfluidic techniques (via simulation and experiments)
  • Integrate optical measurement capabilities for nano-sized analytes
  • Work on assay integration within a lab-on-chip platform for protein and extracellular vesicle detection
  • Contribute to point-of-care diagnostic solutions by automating processing of complex biological liquids
  • Collaborate with clinicians, engineers, and academic/industrial partners
  • Conduct post-analysis with comparative diagnostic equipment and high-resolution techniques (e.g., AFM)
What you'll bring with you
  • Master's degree in biomedical engineering or a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience in cleanroom microengineering and microfluidic fabrication
  • Experience with immunolabeling biological analytes
  • Knowledge in CAD design and FEM simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) while experience of translating simulation into experimental results is advantageous
  • Knowledge of microscopy, optical systems, and image processing programming
  • Strong communication skills, proactive and collaborative mindset
  • Fluency in English (German or French is a plus)
School of Engineering and Computer Science

In the School of Engineering and Computer Science we don't move with the times, mostly we are a bit ahead of them! We find it fascinating what benefits technology can have in people's everyday lives. We gain knowledge through research and joint projects with industry and business. This exchange brings about cutting-edge insights that we continually share with students.
